For three
days the Hamilton Convention Center and surrounding area
was teeming with happy looking Konkanis from all over the
globe catching up with their relatives and long lost friends.
Many of them were sporting red Konkani shirts and carrying
red and white bags. The
programs commenced with a grand opening ceremony in the
magnificent auditorium.
The food
was uniformly superlative, the KonCANi Idol program considered
the best ever, and the Karaoke competition unfailingly filled
the large hall. The classical music performances,
the plays & skits and the dances were greatly appreciated.
The Youth had a blast with Casino Night, Speed Panchyadika,
discos, and night club.
If the
art work that decorated the entire Convention Centre held
you spell bound, especially the two large wall hangings that
flanked both sides of the stage in Hamilton Place,

The
festivities finally ended with joyous dancing on a jam packed
floor in the early hours of July 4.
The
Organizing Committee is gratified that the
Sammelan met the expectations of Konkanis attending the
Sammelan. We wish to record our appreciation of the
three years of incredible sacrifices and efforts of the
volunteer team, the open hearted generosity of the many
donors and sponsors, the talented performers who entertained
the gathering, the many professional staff & vendors,
the welcoming City of Hamilton, and most of all the enthusiastic
Konkani delegates who came from far and wide to attend the
Sammelan!
